Kelly Ripa brought laughter and relatable parenting moments to the audience during Monday’s episode of Live, discussing her three grown children with husband Mark Consuelos. “They were not taught cursive, they were not taught script in school,” Kelly explained, prompting an audience member’s surprised shout. “I know, look, don’t yell at me. I sent them to school,” she joked, eliciting laughter from the studio.

Kelly added that parents were even called in to learn math alongside the students to keep up with the curriculum. “They brought all the parents in and were like, ‘You’re doing it wrong,’” she said, laughing. Mark joined in, noting, “They didn’t carry the one!”

The family, raised in New York City, is incredibly close. Michael is pursuing acting, Lola is a singer with multiple albums, and Joaquin studies theater while also wrestling in college. Despite their busy lives, the siblings maintain a strong bond and recently enjoyed an exotic family vacation over the holidays. Kelly described the trip as a “BS free zone,” enjoying a rare moment with all three children together.

Kelly emphasized the values she and Mark instilled in their children. “We want to raise productive people who are thoughtful and selfless,” she said. “I wanted to raise good, caring, generous, thoughtful people who are professional, polite, and who don’t expect the world handed to them.”
