They’ve defied all odds! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos marked their 30th wedding anniversary by sharing the unexpected story of their whirlwind romance and revealing why their relationship “shouldn’t have worked out.”

In a candid and heartfelt moment on Live with Kelly and Mark, the couple looked back on their remarkable 30 years together—an adventure that started with a spontaneous Las Vegas elopement just one year after meeting on the set of All My Children in 1995.
“30 years! We did it,” Mark gushed on the live show, as Kelly added, “Best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
Fast-forward to today, the couple has three children together: daughter Lola and sons Michael and Joaquin. Despite their incredibly happy family, Kelly wasn’t afraid to admit that their early idea of eloping was “ludicrous.”
“It wasn’t supposed to work out,” Mark admitted. “Two kids meet on a soap opera?”

But, against all odds, Mark believes it was fate that brought them together. “It wasn’t even a decision,” he said, smiling. “It was destined to happen.”
Kelly, with a wink, echoed, “A destiny.” She added, “I think every day is our anniversary in a weird way.”

But the pair’s journey didn’t end there. While reflecting on their wedding day, Kelly made an amusing comparison, pointing out that they share their anniversary with none other than Elvis and Priscilla Presley, who tied the knot on May 1, 1967. But unlike the Presleys, who famously divorced in 1973, Kelly and Mark have proven that true love can last.
“We don’t want to celebrate that part,” Kelly joked, a playful reference to the infamous couple’s split.
They even tied the knot in Vegas, just like Elvis and Priscilla—albeit at different venues. Mark recounted the moment they checked into their hotel, flipping through the Yellow Pages to find “Wedding Chapels,” and picking the Chapel of the Bells, based purely on the prominence of its ad.
