Jimmy Kimmel Becomes Grandpa! Daughter Katie Welcomes Her First Baby in Heartwarming Family Moment
Jimmy Kimmel now holds a new title: grandfather. The beloved late-night host missed the May 19 taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the sweetest reason — his daughter Katie Kimmel and her husband Will Logsdon welcomed their first baby together.:max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(999x0:1001x2)/jimmy-kimmel-kids-2-b8d5a575ec3742828bd89b3888ce0ff2.jpg)
During the May 20 episode, Jimmy shared the joyful news with his audience. “We were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn’t because my daughter had a baby,” he explained. “My oldest daughter, Katie, 33, and her husband Will had a baby girl right at the time we were supposed to shoot the show.”
While Jimmy — who shares Katie and son Kevin, 31, with ex Gina Maddy, and Jane, 10, and Billy, 8, with wife Molly McNearney — expressed how important it was for him to be there, he also reassured fans that mother and baby were doing perfectly. “I decided to be there instead of here,” he said. “The baby is very healthy. They gave her a very cute name.”
With a wink, Jimmy joked about the baby’s name, saying they initially considered calling her “Melania Thee Stallion” after Melania Trump and Megan Thee Stallion — but later confirmed the little girl is named Patti Joan.
The proud grandfather also noted the sheer size of the family support at the hospital. “We had an army of family,” Jimmy shared. “It was bigger than Coachella.”
Of course, Jimmy couldn’t hide his excitement about his new role. He humorously reflected on lessons learned from his own grandfathers, including painting the inside of a microwave and bowling overhand. “I have to think of something weird to teach my grandkids,” he joked, leaving the audience laughing.
As this joyous news spreads, fans are reminded of the excitement and love that comes with welcoming a new family member. Jimmy’s heartfelt and humorous announcement highlights the blend of family warmth and late-night wit that has endeared him to audiences for decades.
