Savannah putting on a brave face as she returns to the 'Today Show' The mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has taken a new turn as forensic experts dissect critical evidence found outside her home. New insights, provided by retired FBI special agent Jim Clemente, are shedding light on the final moments of the 84-year-old’s life, offering chilling details of her physical state before vanishing without a trace.A member of the FBI surveils the area around Nancy Guthrie's residence

In a revealing conversation with NewsNation, Clemente broke down the blood evidence found on the front stoop of Nancy’s residence, offering highly specific clues to reconstruct the events leading up to her disappearance. The blood spatter patterns could be pivotal in answering the many questions surrounding the case.

“This tells me a number of things, and it’s very specific,” Clemente noted. “At this point, Nancy’s face was very close to the ground, possibly within a foot of it. She could have been kneeling, hunched over, or lying on the ground.”Savannah Guthrie poses alongside her mother Nancy Guthrie

According to Clemente, the nature of the blood pattern suggests it wasn’t merely dripping from a wound but was expelled with force. He pointed to the presence of distinct circular blood marks, often associated with someone coughing up blood. “Medium velocity can be created when someone aspirates blood and coughs it up,” he explained. “You can see three circular blood spots with hollow centers—this definitely came from her. She coughed it out.”

FBI agents have since confirmed through DNA testing that the blood at the scene indeed belongs to Nancy, further cementing the significance of the findings.A picture is displayed in front of the home of Nancy Guthrie

However, Clemente’s observations don’t end there. He noted a shift in the blood pattern further along the walkway. This change could indicate movement after the initial incident—potentially suggesting Nancy was carried away from the area. “The pattern appears to change,” he said, implying that perhaps she was moved with her face up. “The blood drops don’t continue consistently along the path after that.”

Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden previously weighed in, supporting Clemente’s analysis. Dr. Baden explained that the “donut-shaped” drops were likely a result of blood originating from the nose or mouth, most likely due to coughing or aspiration. He further noted that these types of drops are mixed with air, which is a key indicator of this type of injury.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1, and while no conclusions have been made, the new forensic insights provide a crucial window into what might have transpired during her final moments. Investigators are hopeful that these findings could bring them closer to uncovering the truth behind her mysterious disappearance.

As Savannah Guthrie bravely returns to her duties at Today, the case remains one of the most puzzling in recent memory, with each new clue bringing us a step closer to unraveling the mystery of Nancy Guthrie’s last days.
