German police, welfare check. I called for my daughter because she’s pissed off that I won’t let her go to my my youngest go to >> to do a welfare check on a 10-year-old. Go to These officers arrive expecting nothing more than a routine welfare check. But what begins as a simple visit soon leads to a horrifying discovery they never could have anticipated.
is so foul There’s no oxygen. There’s it’s the house is filled with flies. Come on. Oh my god. Yeah. Oh, they’re both laying. Huh? They’re both. It all begins on July 2nd, 2025 in Trumann, Arkansas when an anonymous welfare check is requested for a quiet local home. At around 1:00 p.m., officers are dispatched to the residence of 38-year-old Samantha Platts.
But from the very moment they arrive, something feels deeply wrong. Open the door, please. You were just standing at this front door. I’m disabled. It takes me a minute to get out of bed. >> Okay, somebody was standing right here. I heard them. So. No. Okay. >> Cat, maybe. >> Davison.
I work for the Trumann Police Department. Uh we received A call from my daughter because she’s pissed off that I won’t let her go to my my youngest go to to do a welfare check on a 10-year-old. Go to Charity Village with her. She’s in her room. We’d like to see her, please. Just step in here with you. This is my bedroom. It’s a mess.
The rest of the house is clean. >> Body’s in the back like he always is. He’s out in the back. This is my bedroom. Where? Huh? >> And she’s in here? Yep. Her room is clean. Samantha’s description of the house being a mess is a huge understatement. It is filled with garbage and cat feces everywhere. For a child to be living in such insanitary conditions is immediately seen as a major red flag.
And what’s your name? You doing all right? Okay. We got to have to come over here and check on you. So. >> [music] >> All right. Well. You like your cats? Tired of cats? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. You got so many flies in here. How do you get so many flies in here? You got lots of cats. 12 cats? What? Oh, that was more than With growing concern, officers move further inside the home and locate the child.
Thankfully, the child is okay, but that small relief won’t last long. Officers sense something is still off and suspect more people could be inside the property. So they ask for full access unaware of what they’re about to uncover. Is in the backyard or back of the house? Um can I get to the back through here? No. Yep.
Is anybody else in the house besides you two? No. Who’s up? Who’s bed is this? Huh? Things are starting to feel more mysterious. Along with the messy house and the many cats, officers smell a strong odor of ammonia, an unsettling detail that raises even more questions. But something far stranger is still waiting for them.
Body Williams. Okay. What are you doing? Who’s in there with you? Huh? Couple of us. Step through here. Save your life, Kevin. Okay. All right. There’s a lot to unpack here. It’s a lot to unpack here. Y’all uh Just step out one at a time, please. One at a time. One at a time. Come on back. Okay. Oops. Sorry.
PART 2:
Keep your eyes on everybody’s hands, please. Everybody keep your hands where they can be seen when you step out here, okay? The first man officers come across is identified as Body E. Williams, Samantha’s boyfriend, someone they had already been warned about. He’s found hiding inside a filthy den in the shed.
Officers struggle to understand why he is hiding or what exactly is going on inside this house. Last name? I know you. >> Arnold. Doris Arnold? Doris Arnold? Kevin Jones, Body Williams. I don’t know. Um Kevin Williams. You uh You call probation officer to make a search here or Amy, if Amy. See if Amy is The other two individuals are identified as Kevin Jones and Doris Arnold.
Once their identification is confirmed, officers decide to check the shed already suspecting they might find something illegal. Inside, their fears are confirmed. Kevin Jones, black male, showing to be expired 6280. Doris Arnold showing to be enrolled in drug and alcohol active supervision through adult parole file.
Warrant for Kevin Jones issued 111781. Kevin. DUI 151 on Body. Officers find multiple meth pipes and baggies containing meth in there. The next step is easy. All three individuals hiding in that shed have prior records and with the evidence right in front of them, they are immediately placed under arrest. Come over here.
You want to go up in here? Good. And double lock them. Shut the door. Shut the door. Give me a minute. You want to empty everything out of here? Oh, yeah. You said on yours. Officers initially believe that finding the three people hiding in the shed means they’ve uncovered what they came for. But the foul stench, the overwhelming number of cats, and the unsettling condition of the house continue to bother them.
Trusting their instincts, they decide to take one more look inside, a decision that would soon prove they were right to be suspicious. Yeah, I just smelled the ammonia is bad enough. This is the bed she referenced. Um I’m betting that laptop’s his. Oh my god. Is there a baby here at all? >> That’s what I’m looking for. There’s some serious Right here.
is so foul There’s no oxygen. There’s it’s the house is filled with flies and the floor is caving in in some parts and there’s There’s this there’s this junk and trash and cat poop and pee in every square inch of it. So. Along with the disgusting condition of the house, officers notice that there’s very little food.
The child tells them she can’t remember the last time she ate. This information only makes them more determined to bring the adults to justice so they continue their search in earnest sure that it will soon turn up more incriminating evidence. More than that. There was allegedly dogs somewhere, but they’re claiming there’s no dogs on the property. So.
Here. The another mention was made of dogs being kept in a shed back here. You know anything about that? There’s no dogs. They’re in them and dogs for months. You have any dogs on the property? >> No. Okay. All right. They’re in them and dogs in there for almost over a year because uh police took them a year ago.
But what Samantha has just told officers will soon be proven false because the very next thing they find tells a completely different story. You don’t have teeth like that, do you? Uh I mean, that would be the back towards No, I flipped the skull back around. That’s a freaking dog, dude. That’s a dog. Take photos of that, dude.
That is a dog here. You can tell by the back the back teeth. The whole situation takes a strange and shocking turn when officers discover the dead dogs, a finding that thickens suspicion about what’s been happening inside the home. But things get even more bizarre moments later when the child suddenly comes up and says something that sends a chill through everyone listening.
Here with the cats out of the Yeah, we’re going to make sure they get taken care of. That way they don’t starve or die in the house or anything, okay? That’s uh Jumbo? I believe so. Some of the dead cats are in the freezer, so you might want to go in there and take pictures. Some of the what now? >> Dead cats are in the freezer. Dead cats are in the freezer? Yeah.
I didn’t know. I’m not hearing that right. We don’t want to get sitting here and die, okay? That’s what she said. Yes, there’s dead cats in I’m sorry, did I overlook that? Nope, you didn’t. I don’t know. Cuz now I’m thinking about animal cruelty. Yep. One there. There’s one back here. She said there’s 12. Shut up, dude.
Tensions rise quickly because if what the little girl is saying turns out to be true, then it points to something truly unthinkable. Nope, okay, not that one. Okay, I just went in here. Oh my god. What is that? Is that what that is? Okay. That’s a I think. It’s probably these That’s watermelon. Refrigerator, maybe? There’s a freezer right here as well.
Sorry. Mistaking the watermelon gives officers a brief moment of hope. But within minutes, that relief [music] turns into horror as they uncover a discovery that reveals this house is hiding something far more disturbing than [music] anyone imagined. I don’t know what the fridge Oh. Oh come on, dude. Come on. Oh my god.
Yeah. Oh, Jim Bob blank. Jim Bob. Do you have gloves? Need some more. Oh my. These cats were not dead when she put them in there. There’s a mama in there box with her group of her dead baby kittens. 22? Yeah, make sure. Make sure. Nothing else in there? Even if the box has hamburgers on it, make sure it’s hamburgers.
Yeah, cuz they used that as all of the food. That’s just insane. Inside the freezer, officers discover 24 dead cats and kittens stuffed into cardboard boxes alongside frozen food. Even more unsettling is the fact that the way their bodies are curled up raises the possibility that they may have been frozen alive.
The scene is deeply disturbing and even seasoned officers are shaken by what they’re seeing. As they begin sorting through the discovery, >> [music] >> the woman who made the welfare call, the child’s older sister, arrives at the scene to take custody of the 10-year-old. She also explains the situation leading up to her welfare call, the final piece of the puzzle officers require.
Um we’ve actually I’ve already had her at our residence. Um she was temporarily with me for a little while. It’s probably going to be a lot longer. Um It’s going to be up to It’s going to be up to her ultimately. We don’t deal in that. We won’t even come to your house. We can’t go to baby. Yeah. But if it’s like this, then it won’t happen. Oh, I know.
So if it’s It’s It’s fine. Okay. Um so it’s This has been an ongoing issue for a while, but my birthday is this Monday and she was supposed to We’re going to Cherokee for the weekend. And she was supposed to come with us. And my mom doesn’t celebrate holidays. Um so she had said that she had made last-minute plans for the four couldn’t come with us.
Um and just told me that she’d moved some people into the home that had just gotten out of jail, so I didn’t feel comfortable leaving her here with random people. Okay. Because other than Body, I’m not sure who else is here. Well, Body’s probably not a good person to be around. >> Oh, no, he’s not. I’ve had a few issues with Body.
Me and Body have just gotten called out here because we fist fought. Um about a year ago, I beat him with a PVC pipe. Her explanation confirms once and for all that Samantha should never have had custody of the child to begin with. Both Samantha Plotts and Body Williams are charged with 24 counts of aggravated animal cruelty as the full scale of the case comes to light.
Samantha also faces an additional charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. In December 2025, Body Williams accepts a plea deal for one count of aggravated cruelty to a dog or cat, receiving 36 months of probation along with a ban on owning or being around pets. Meanwhile, Samantha continues to wait for her trial as the legal battle surrounding this case is far from over.
