Jimmy Kimmel interrogates Mike Tyson on his ties with Donald Trump

Jimmy Kimmel had questions for Mike Tyson about his relationship with Donald Trump.
The controversial former boxer, 59, was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, May 6. While on the ABC late-night show, the conversation pivoted into Mike’s ties with President Trump. Jimmy began the conversation by asking Mike if he’s ever been to Trump’s resort, Mar-a-Lago, in Florida. Mike replied that he has and “all the time.”
Jimmy, 58, further questioned him by inquiring, “Why are you going there? What goes on there? What could possibly be fun about it?” The comedian noted he’s only been there once and he’s “never seen older people in my life.” Mike wanted to know when he went, and Jimmy said, “Believe me, I’m not allowed there anymore.” Jimmy is referring to his feud with Trump, as he is a vocal critic of the president and recently called him a “hypocrite” following Trump’s continuous calls for ABC to fire Jimmy.
Following Jimmy’s remark, the heavyweight boxing champion continued to gush about the venue, saying, “Mar-a-Lago is one of the best places in the world to be and hang out.”
Jimmy then goes straight to the point, asking Mike, “So now you’re kind of part of the Trump administration, right?” To which, he responded, “You believe that? Hey, I’ve got too many felonies—that can’t be.”
“I have a feeling—well, he you he’s got more than you do,” Jimmy said, causing Mike to burst out into laughter.

Mike said, “I never thought about it that way.”
Jimmy went on to say that Mike has known Trump since the 1980s when he would have his boxing matches at the 79-year-old’s casinos. He brought up that Mike is working with US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy “on one of the few not-crazy projects” to encourage people to eat healthy.
The controversial former athlete collaborated with RFK Jr. in a Super Bowl ad against processed food. The ad that featured Mike saw him talking about his sister, who died from obesity, and his own experience with the health issue.
“Hey, listen,” responded Tyson. “I lost my sister at 25 from obesity. That’s a trigger for me. When I see somebody that may be obese, it’s just a bad experience.”
The relationship appeared to begin in 1988 when Trump hosted Mike Tyson’s world title fight against Mike Spinks in Atlantic City. From there, where Mike won, Trump promoted Mike’s fights in a resort city in the late 80s and early 90s.
During their long friendship, Trump defended Mike when he was convicted of rape in 1992 and proposed that money from Mike’s fights go to rape victims instead of him serving jail time. Mike has endorsed Trump during his presidency and has thanked him for his support.
