Dylan Dreyer Compares Parenting and Career to ‘Severance’: ‘It Feels Like Living Two Different Lives’

Dylan Dreyer has opened up about the challenge of balancing her career and parenting, offering a unique perspective by comparing it to the Apple TV series Severance. On the April 23 episode of Today’s The Parent Chat Podcast, the 44-year-old meteorologist revealed how she manages to keep her work and personal lives separate, even likening it to a shift in which she leaves her personal life behind once she enters the office.Dylan Dreyer Reveals Sons Were Admitted to Emergency Room with RSV

“I feel like I have my life that I love. I love my job. I love coming to work. I’m not thinking about my kids,” Dreyer shared. “And then I go home, and I love being a mom. I love being with the kids, and I’m not really thinking about work. It’s like I’m living two different lives, but they’re all cohesive.”

Dreyer, who is the mother of three sons—Calvin, 9, Oliver, 6, and Russell, 4—explained that while she enjoys every moment spent with her children, she also doesn’t shy away from admitting that she relishes her time away from them as well. “I talk about my kids a lot on the show, but I really enjoy when I’m not with them as much as I enjoy being with them,” she said.Dylan Dreyer's Reveals Her Youngest Son Rusty Needed Stitches: 'Boy Mom'

Her candid comments shed light on the pressures parents face, emphasizing that it’s okay to enjoy personal time without feeling guilty. She and podcast host Amanda Hirsch agreed that managing the delicate balance between career, personal life, and parenting is entirely achievable, as long as you can snap back into “mom mode” when it’s time.

The conversation took a humorous turn when Hirsch shared a relatable story about going from a glamorous gala to cleaning up after her child. “It brings you right back down,” Hirsch joked. “You don’t get a moment, you know?”

Dylan Dreyer’s honest reflections on parenting, career, and finding balance resonate with many, reminding us that it’s okay to enjoy the moments both with and without our kids.
