Kelly Ripa’s Jaw DROPS in Horror After Mark Consuelos’ Twisted “Monster” Question Leaves Live Audience GASPS and Screaming!

Mark Consuelos may love a challenge, but his latest attempt to win on Live with Kelly and Mark left Kelly Ripa — and the studio audience — visibly shocked.Mark Consuelos gesturing while speaking next to Kelly Ripa on a TV show set

During Wednesday’s May 20 episode, contestant Lisa Best from Chattanooga, Tennessee, joined the show to play the popular “Stump Mark” game. The segment asks Consuelos to figure out which of two personal stories is true and which is false.

The prize may only be a Live mug and “Stump Mark” T-shirt, but Consuelos has made it clear he hates losing.

“Oh, I don’t like to lose,” he previously told PEOPLE. “I’m very competitive. It’s the athlete in me. Once we start playing, I’m locked in.”

Best quickly found that out.Mark Consuelos Leaves Live Audience ‘Horrified’ as Kelly Ripa Asks ‘What Kind of a Monster Are You?’

Her two stories involved taking part in Georgia’s Dolly Day Festival and performing at the Grand Ole Opry as part of a seventh-grade clogging team.

After listening to her explanations — and hearing that 79% of Instagram voters believed the Dolly Day story, while 21% backed the Grand Ole Opry claim — Consuelos admitted he was torn.

“I don’t know, I was thinking the opposite. This is tough,” he said, adding that he had been enjoying a strong winning streak. “I’m having a record May.”

Then the moment took a dramatic turn.

“I’m going to do something that may ruffle some feathers, but I’m going to do it,” Consuelos said, before asking Best whether she had children.Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa seated at a desk on the set of a show with a game graphic called Stump Mark displayed on a screen

When she said yes, he asked: “Do you swear on your kids that you participated in the Dolly Day Festival?”

“Mark! WHAT?!” Best shouted.

Ripa immediately stepped in.

“What! Do not, no—” she told her husband.

But Consuelos refused to back down.

“No, no. I’m doing it!” he insisted.

“You are not! You are not doing it,” Ripa fired back. “Lisa, you do not have to answer that question.”

When Best refused to swear on her children, Ripa turned on Consuelos with disbelief.

“What kind of a monster are you!” she asked.

Consuelos defended himself with one blunt explanation: “I want to win!”

The studio audience appeared just as stunned.

“They are horrified!” Ripa said, pointing toward the crowd. “People are gagged! They are shocked! They are outraged!”Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos seated at a table during a Stump Mark game segment

Although Consuelos claimed “a couple of people” agreed with him, even he noticed the side-eye coming from the room.

In the end, the risky tactic did not work.

Consuelos guessed that Best’s Grand Ole Opry story was false — only for her to reveal it was actually true.

“You’re wrong!” Best announced as the audience erupted.

“AND THAT’S WHAT YOU GET, MARK!” Ripa shouted.

Best walked away with the mug and T-shirt prize before playing “Deep Dive Travel Trivia,” where she won $2,000 “in cold hard cash.”

“Wow,” Consuelos said afterward. “I guess the old adage, ‘God will get you back!’”

“God will get you back!” Ripa repeated.

“Stump Mark” has become one of the most talked-about segments on Live since Consuelos officially joined Ripa as co-host in 2023.

Ripa has often joked that the game is “the reason you’re all here,” while fans continue to follow Consuelos’ monthly record, stats and win percentage.

Live with Kelly and Mark airs weekdays in syndication.
