JD Vance Teases Hilarious Role Swap with New Mom Karoline Leavitt as White House Baby Boom Continues
Karoline Leavitt, the youngest White House Press Secretary at 28, recently welcomed her second child, daughter Viviana, on May 1st. Leavitt shared the joyous news on Instagram, writing, “Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love.” She described her newborn as healthy and perfect, and noted that her son, Niko, born in July 2024, is adjusting joyfully to his new sister.
With Leavitt currently on maternity leave, Vice President JD Vance hosted a White House press briefing in her absence. During the session, Vance discussed ongoing US-Iran talks, highlighting progress and expressing hope for a peaceful resolution. However, the media was most intrigued when he joked about a potential role swap with Leavitt.
Addressing the press, Vance praised Leavitt and acknowledged her temporary absence: “I want to give a shout out to Karoline Leavitt, who hopefully is at home enjoying time with her beautiful kids.” He then humorously revealed a playful deal they made: “I told Karoline I would stand in for her today for the White House press briefing on the condition that when my wife Usha has our baby in July, she would be vice president for a couple of weeks,” eliciting laughter from attendees.
Leavitt, who is balancing motherhood and a demanding career, expressed joy over her expanding family. She described the newborn period as a “blissful bubble,” emphasizing the happiness of welcoming a second child. Vance and his wife, Usha, are expecting their fourth child, another boy, due in late July. They are already parents to three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
The White House is experiencing a notable baby boom, with Katie Miller, wife of Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, also expecting her fourth child soon. Amid these personal milestones, the interplay of professional responsibilities and family life is visible in the highest levels of government.
The lighthearted exchange between Vance and Leavitt not only showcased camaraderie within the administration but also highlighted the personal side of public figures juggling critical roles and family commitments. As Leavitt enjoys time with her children, Vance continues to manage high-level governmental duties while awaiting his own expanding family.
