Major Shake-Up at ABC News: New Executive Hired to Revamp ‘This Week’

SHOW SHAKE UP: ABC News Confirms Revamp for George Stephanopoulos’ ‘This Week’ with New Executive Hire

ABC News is rolling out a major shake-up that could completely change the face of its flagship Sunday political program, This Week.

The network has announced that Jon Schlosberg will take over as executive producer of the show, bringing a “streaming-era” perspective to the long-running broadcast. Schlosberg, a five-year senior producer for Prime with Linsey Davis on ABC News Live, is set to begin in Washington, D.C., on May 6.

He will work alongside anchor George Stephanopoulos and co-anchors Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl, steering the show into a new chapter as ABC adapts to digital and linear audiences.

Schlosberg, who joined ABC News in 2018 and helped launch its 24/7 streaming platform, has extensive experience covering elections, presidential debates, and major international conflicts including Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Gaza. He previously held producer roles at ABC-owned KGO-TV in San Francisco and WVUE-TV in New Orleans.

Rick Klein, ABC News Washington Bureau Chief, praised Schlosberg’s credentials: “His sharp political instincts, deep experience in linear and streaming television, and proven ability to build winning teams make him exactly the right person to lead This Week into its next chapter.”

Industry insiders note this move signals a broader retooling at ABC. Good Morning America recently opted not to renew longtime weekend co-anchor Janai Norman’s contract, marking a shift in one of the network’s cornerstone morning programs. Norman, who joined ABC in 2016, has reported for nearly a decade and was a weekend co-anchor for almost four years.

The network did not comment on future programming details, but the combination of fresh leadership for This Week and changes at GMA highlight ABC’s intent to adapt its news offerings for evolving audience demands.
